Synopsis (EN)
In the winter of 2015 two girls followed the firefighters with the Service for Prevention and Fighting of Forest Fires (S.P.L.I.F) in San Carlos de Bariloche: a group of men specially trained to fight fire. Their daily routine consisted of physical training, inspection of terrain, radio communication, and extensive travel over the maze like roads of southern Argentina. But they also had a lot of downtime as they waited to be called into action. Halfway between documentary and fiction, between essay and experiment, The Fire We Saw observes these men and their environment and tries to shed light on what happens when nothing happens.
Sinópsis (ES)
Después de ver una foto en un diario sobre una serie de incendios forestales en la Patagonia, dos chicas deciden, como en un juego azaroso, viajar a Bariloche. Van a buscar el fuego y en cambio se encuentran con los brigadistas del S.P.L.I.F. (Servicio de Prevención y Lucha contra Incendios Forestales). En el tiempo que estuvieron con ellos no hubo ningún incendio. El único fuego que vieron fue generado especialmente para ellas. Una carta encontrada revela un presagio de lo que vendrá: un grupo de hombres en un tiempo detenido, entre inspecciones del terreno y extensos desplazamientos por las laberínticas rutas del sur, fundiéndose con el paisaje.
